Transition

At Parry School, we understand that transitioning into or out of a new learning environment can be an important and sometimes challenging time for students and their families. To ensure every young person feels supported from the beginning, we work closely with families, home schools and external agencies to plan a personalised and thoughtful transition into Parry. We take the time to learn about each student’s background, strengths, interests and support needs so they can settle in gradually, build trust and feel safe in their new setting.

While students are with us, we focus on developing the skills they need to be successful after their time at Parry. This includes building confidence, strengthening literacy and numeracy, developing social and emotional skills, and fostering independence to support future learning, training or employment pathways.

When students are ready to move on from Parry, we prioritise a smooth, well-coordinated transition that sets them up for ongoing success. For many students, this means returning to their home school, where we collaborate with staff to create a consistent and supportive re-entry plan. We also work with post-school and vocational services such as TAFE, Careers Network, Joblink and other providers to assist students who are transitioning into training, work or alternative learning pathways.

Our transition processes emphasise confidence-building, continuity of support and clear communication. Whether students are arriving at Parry or moving into their next chapter, we aim to make every transition positive, well-planned and centred on each student’s long-term wellbeing and success.
