Learning

At Parry School, learning is personalised, practical and aligned with the NSW curriculum. We design flexible programs that respond to each student’s needs, interests and strengths, helping them re-engage with learning in a supportive and structured environment. Our teachers use explicit teaching, real-world activities and targeted support to build confidence, strengthen essential skills and prepare students for a successful return to their home school or future learning pathways.

Parry's approach to learning

Personalised and Relevant Learning
Learning at Parry School is guided by the NSW curriculum and tailored to the needs, strengths and interests of each student. Because our student cohort changes frequently, we regularly review and adjust our programs to ensure learning remains relevant, practical and engaging. This flexible approach helps students re-engage with learning and achieve success at their own pace.
Strong Foundations in Literacy and Numeracy
We focus on building essential literacy and numeracy skills that support everyday life and future learning. Teachers use explicit instruction, targeted support and real-world activities to help students strengthen their foundation skills and grow in confidence.
Engaging, Hands-On Education
Our programs prioritise practical, meaningful learning. Students take part in hands-on tasks, group activities, technology-based learning, and community-connected experiences. This approach helps students discover their interests, build confidence and remain engaged in learning.
Inclusive and Individualised Support
Every student at Parry has an IEP and PLP, which guide personalised learning goals and strategies. Teachers adjust content, teaching methods and expectations to suit each student’s readiness and learning style. This ensures that all students feel supported, understood and capable of making progress.
Australian Core Skills Framework (ACSF)
Alongside the NSW curriculum, we use the Australian Core Skills Framework (ACSF) to support growth in essential skills—reading, writing, numeracy, oral communication and learning. The ACSF helps us identify student strengths, plan targeted instruction and track progress over time.
Extension and Enrichment
Students who are ready for additional challenge are offered open-ended tasks, project-based learning and enrichment opportunities matched to their strengths and interests. This allows students to extend their skills while building confidence and maintaining engagement.
Supporting Student Progress

We support student progress through:

  • ongoing check-ins and clear feedback
  • learning goals set with each student
  • targeted literacy and numeracy support
  • specialist staff involvement as required
  • wellbeing embedded in everyday learning
  • strong communication with families and home schools
  • careful planning for transitions back to school or other pathways

Our goal is to help each student rebuild confidence, strengthen essential skills and move forward positively in their learning.

Learning beyond Parry

Our goal is to help every student strengthen their skills, rebuild confidence and feel prepared for their next steps. During their time with us, students develop practical learning strategies, improved engagement and a stronger sense of wellbeing that supports their return to their home school or transition into new learning pathways. We work closely with families and home schools to ensure each student leaves Parry ready for continued growth and success.
