Parry School operates under a shared enrolment model in partnership with local high schools. This means all students remain enrolled in their mainstream home school while attending Parry as a shared enrolment for a period of targeted support. Our placements are designed to help students re-engage with learning, build positive relationships, and develop the skills needed to return successfully to their home school or transition into future pathways.

How the Process Works

Enrolment at Parry School is not made directly by families or students. Placements are determined through Placement Panel, a multidisciplinary team made up of representatives from the NSW Department of Education and local schools.

When a student is identified by their home school as requiring additional support due to ongoing behavioural, social, emotional, or engagement challenges, the home school completes an Access Request in consultation with the student’s parents or carers. This Access Request is submitted to Placement Panel for consideration.

The panel carefully reviews each Access Request to determine the most appropriate educational setting to meet the student’s individual needs. If Parry School is recommended, a placement may be offered for an agreed period. Progress is closely monitored through collaboration between Parry staff, the home school, and the student’s family, with review meetings held regularly to ensure ongoing success and plan next steps.

Collaboration and Transition

During each placement, Parry School works in partnership with the student’s home school, parents or carers, and external support agencies to provide consistent guidance and wraparound support. When students demonstrate readiness through improved behaviour, attendance, and engagement, transition plans are developed to support a smooth reintegration to their home school or into post-school pathways such as training or employment.

Further Information

If you believe your child may benefit from a placement at Parry School, please speak with your child’s home school principal or wellbeing team. All Access Requests and referrals must be submitted by the home school for consideration by Placement Panel.

Through your home school, a school tour of Parry can be arranged prior to or during the referral process. This provides an opportunity for parents, carers, and students to learn more about our programs, meet staff, and gain an understanding of the supportive environment we offer.
